Fundraisers and Pushups

If you haven't gotten the word yet, we're doing a Team WOD on 3/26 as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Cancer Research. Register as a participant or donate to the cause here!

I had a chance to talk to many of you about the DEFY! Pushup Challenge. The challenge is simple: if you are currently able to do good pushups, your goal is to reach 100 of them in 2 minutes without putting your knees down. If you can't do a full pushup, your goal is to get to 10 nonstop pushups.

Ideas for the progression to 100 pushups are coming soon. To start, take several opportunities through the day to do a few perfect pushups - tight core, fingers pointed forward, "elbow pits" forward (externally rotate the arms in the shoulder socket), and break parallel with the upper arms.

If you're still working toward one good pushup, use a combination of techniques to build up. At the gym, use bands for assisted pushups, and set up plates and/or mats to work on increasing measured range-of-motion. During WODs and outside the gym, you can also use an incline-to-flat progression:

Keep everything going strong, and we'll work toward that 100!
